Overview

The PHA-16's high-performance, full-range drivers offer a well-defined dispersion pattern with no hot spots. It is a compact array speaker designed to work on its own or paired with flat-panel displays and video walls in industrial, commercial and residential home-theater applications. Its 25-inch length makes it ideal as a center channel above or below a video wall, as a perimeter fill for outlying zones in commercial spaces, or as a timbre-matched surround in a residential theater - it shares the driver complement and tuning of the PHA-5125.

Mounted horizontally as a soundbar, the signal drops off dramatically off-axis while maintaining a very uniform sound field in the vertical dimension. Mounted as a vertical column, it delivers a uniform sound field 360° around the speaker - ideal for public venues or hidden away at home. Options include an external HideAway™ amplifier and a PADS™ or TPA receiver.

In the field

Five PHA-16B arrays (the black-finish PHA-16) at the Starlight Express Room, Monash Medical Centre (Melbourne, Australia) - the Starlight Children's Foundation's in-hospital space for seriously ill kids. The brief: independent audio zones above the gaming stations, so kids can play different games side by side without disturbing each other. Each ceiling-mounted array beams its station's audio straight down onto its players - five games at once, one calm room. Installer and client feedback has been very positive. PHA-16W - the white-finish PHA-16 - in the ceilings of the world's largest big-box retailer, deployed in stores nationwide. High in the open rafters, white-on-white against the deck and trusses, the columns are all but impossible to spot from the sales floor - while beaming announcements and program audio down into the aisles. Mounted vertical or horizontal to suit each bay. One extrusion, every finish: black between wood slats, white in steel rafters.

PHA-16B beneath the dual menu-board screens at the Tire & Battery Center of a very large club-warehouse retailer with over 600 locations nationwide. The black bar mounts directly below the displays, beaming the signage audio to customers at the counter; the MBA-120-PS mono-block amplifier and the digital signage player are tucked out of sight behind the screens - the whole audio system disappears into the display fixture.

Make your video wall sound as good as it looks

A 53-second look at why line arrays belong on video walls: conventional speakers spray sound everywhere, while a vertical PHA-5125 column focuses it across the room — intelligible from the front row to 10 m back, with no ceiling slap. Corporate boardroom, hospitality lobby and home-theater layouts from the application white paper.
